BAMYE (Okra) Egypt 
This is a dish that is very common in the Middle East. It can be served as a side dish, but with pieces of lamb added,
it becomes a main dish to be eaten with Syrian bread, humous, olives, and other dishes. Ingredients:
1 lb okra,
1 small onion, thinly sliced,
1 heaping tbsp tomato paste,
1 tsp tamarind syrup,
salt,
allspice,
cinnamon.
Directions:
Fry the onion in oil or margarine. Add the okra and water. Add the rest of the ingredients and boil. Lower the heat
and simmer for about 20 - 30 minutes, until cooked.
